This is getting a bit beyond my yum comprehension as well. But if it not the
epel yum config, it might be another repo misconfiguration.
Let's try to get down to a minimalist install and see if we can locate where
the configuration problem is.
On SME9 git alone can be installed from the 'base' repo like in:
# yum install git
On my test SME9 this looks like:
# yum install git
