Addendum to my last posting - I can get the CD listing (even cddb) by adding /dev/cdrom to my playlist (I didn't realize before that this was how it was done w/ the cdread plugin) - but upon trying to play a track, I segfault xmms.

I might actually try to debug what's going on ... but probably not soon ;(

There isn't a standard analog connection from the cdrom to the sound card
on the new macs. If you use xmms there is a plugin for doing cd audio
which should work.
