I surely don't want to be arrogant [and think I am not, but well.. maybe
misunderstood sometimes.. let me explain..]
There are so many things that pass out there, sometimes people just look
at message body and think "okay I don't think it's nice", and simply can't
take the time to argue for that, telling why he does not want to do it,
etc.
I certainly don't want to be arrogant out there, considering how much the
help of the persons of Cooker is precious.
Excuse me if you felt I was, -- it's just that people always think their
suggestions are reeeeally worth, and never suppose that maybe people don't
think in the same way -- I wanted to point that: maybe we feel different
about the suggestions.

Don't forget we are talking about "updatedb", not "rehash"!
Why are you talking about not finding your favorite commands?
You need it to get your lost files through "locate", well it's not as
common as wanting to execute your favorite binary!

Sure. I still think that the best solution would be to launch "updatedb"
as background task at first boot ; not to *block* the installer for
something you certainly not use during the first seconds of your first
login.
Can you imagine logging in and within 2 seconds of time, asking yourself:
"Hell, I'm wondering where exactly have they put the resource files for
keymaps in this distrib?".
