Well no I checked that first off

Yes I did it per the little page at shorewall hat says what ports to open in
rules. The firewall used is the mandrake built in one for connection sharing
via shorewall and from the looks of it yes it is very restrictive. It
basically only allows you forward requests and simply blocks anything else
incoming weather from the outside or from the local net inside.
I did not have enough time to play with it today but I will be working on it
over the next few weeks to make sure it is properly working on mandrake 9.1
possibly if it ends up being usefull it could be included into drakconf or
were ever.
It seems silly to me to allow connection sharing and then block all the
winders boxen out that you are sharing the connection with.

Well this was in the works the guy that is now building the rpm's for redhat
also does the postgress rpm's for the postgress group. He has his scripts to
auto detect many different things.
I have previously done something like this also to read from the
/etc/redhat-release. My current build scripts do it this way. I'm not sure if
that is good enough for every distro but it will work for redhat, mandrake,
and I can't remember what else. I think suse, lycoris maybe some others. I
need to find a better way for this also.
