That's not an issue for me. I don't care as I'd rather have them to logout and reboot that hit reboot by mistake. > restart/shut down ... so is it the best tool for KDE users (or is > fashion more important than function ...). > > > kdm is fine ( not buggy as mdkdm ) but not enough beautiful. > > And this is the most important aspect? yes. gdm allow them to log in, reboot ( even if most of the time I say "no need to reboot" ) and ... is beautiful. So this is thye point that make me made my choice. When you convert people form win to linux, sometimes you need bells & whistles. Now I have to learn how to do a gdm theme so that I can provide a fully personalized theme for the societe( logo, slogan, color chart, ... ) > >> perhaps they want to add an XP-style flowers-on-the-background user list > > > > may be fine, but at this moment mdkdm is buggy as hell and ... > > Nice bug report ... if we have missed something (besides erratic > behaviour of reboot options which I wil add) in the analysis of mdkkdm: > http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/AnlysisOfMdkkdm > please add your comment, or file bug reports on mdkkdm. > > "mdkkdm sucks", "mdkkdm is buggy", "I detest mdkkdm" are not useful bug > reports ... you're i do apologise. Tha talk is interesting even if I can't see the point of mdkdm. It follow kdm config, so ,may have same limit than kdm, for others things should implement gdm behaviour ( compatible for kdm ? same option in kdm ? available in kdm ? ). If I where mdksoft I will better try to add svg support to kdm, unified gdm/kdm theme, and provide a common beautiful theme for both.
