I was merely using it as an example of one way to master the Unix way, personally I use mc or the command line for many of the tasks, I have once leraned to do from there. My initial thread was about, the same thing as the article in 'the register uk', i.e. do a newbie ever have to leave the GUI, and how to give him/her a polished product of state of the art multimedia in Mdk. My thought was along the line of a special edition, like that one for gaming. Something built on the concept of 'your Mdk CD's are a library', let us install one small produkt, you may later add anything you want through the softwaremanager in mcc, &c. But there seem to be such a product, on LWN I read about an Elx distribution. My concerns was about the difficulty to make choices, when you feel unsecure, that is to say I don't think the new user wants to master Unix he/she wants to achieve certain personal goals. But let us stop this thread, we are probably talking about different things. regards guran -- Mandrake Linux 8.2 Cooker kernel-2.4.16.6mdk-1-1mdk version:2001:12:08:18:54
