Yes! Yes! Yes! Terminals must stay! Exactly like you say in response: 
They offer mucho power and are noting like Dos. I recently was setting 
back up my old computer that my Dad wants, but he wants Windows on it 
cause that's what he is use to. I had to use Dos to put a lot of the 
stuff back cause can't do anything with permissions,... while Windows is 
using it. Then while your in Dos you realize how pathetic it is and I 
kept wishing that I had a Linux terminal to work with. Then again, if it
was Linux I wouldn't have had to resort to a termainal if I didn't want 
to and if I did I would have much more power to do what I want and at 
the same time as the Window Manager was up and running.

I agree that I wish the multimedia was easier to setup and working, but
that is about the only thing.  If they ever take away the terminals I 
might as while go back to being a slave to Microsoft.
