uh? there's vi/vim for simplicity. just like using "edit.com/exe",
one needs to use the alt+F1{function keys} to edit with edit.com.
in vi, they simply need to "learn":
ESC + :i (to insert text)
ESC (once more to exit edit text and move about freely in view only
mode)
a little more advanced and the user can then do:
ESC + :d (to enter delete mode and once can then del whole lines of text
at once).
usually, the new user will want to get "lucky" and enter X on startup if
they're not this computer literate. You make them sound that they don't
even know howto use edit.com! lol. as such, they simply hope & pray when
they click install/upgrade for windows.
once in X, they can then use gvim and other simple text editors.
Although, it has always been my personnal opinion of linux being a
'learners' o/s or 'developers' o/s....if the person isn't computer
literate and not willing to learn, then they should have a sysadmin to
install & maintain linux (the same thing goes for windows or else they
become virus prone, etc
).
