I might not have stated my condition clearly.
I would expect to see a fairly high charge rate
when the generator initially comes on line. It has
to restore the charge depleted from starting, the
charge lost while the plane was sitting, etc. This
would then rapidly taper off as the battery came
up to full charge. I have never seen this.

In addition, at night when I turn on my landing light
with everything else on, the ammeter is just a hair
on the minus side.

This looks to me that the regulator, while functioning,
is indeed limiting the current as if I had a 10 amp generator,
rather than the 35 amp.

A mention was made of installing an alternator via a 337 that's around.
That would be the cat's meow!  I imagine though that an alternator
would go for a fortune.
