I agree that the wing tanks are only 8 gal. Any more and they spill as I taxi. Since I use about 5.3 gal/hr, my three hours on the tach is 16 gal or so which usually has me with fuel in the wings when I fill up. The only time it is even an issue is when I am on a long cross country since I will fill up pretty much any time I have more than 1.5 hours on the tach since last fill up on short flights. On long x-countrys I plan 3 hours and have pushed to 3 hrs 15 min to make an 80 oct refueling stop. I rarely see the header drop. And I agree that the advantage of the rain pruf gauge is that you can mark it. I have a thin stip of black electrical tape at the full line. I never expect to see that go down.
