Hello Coupers:
Have been enjoying flying the coupe. Now that we have all the fuel leaks fixed, and the Carbheat works, I'm a happy couper. I would like to start taking some cross countries, and I have noted that the airports in the area where I would like to go ( read that my sister's) do not have 80 octane fuel available. What is the group's opinion on burning 100LL once in a blue moon in a C85? I would probably be adding about half of the total fuel capacity to fuel up at my destination for the flight home. Then I would be able to go back to the 80. Is there anything that I should be aware of in burning 100LL? How about going to Mogas? Enlighten me, Oh Couper-gurus! Just wanted to add that I had a ball flying some Young Eagles last weekend. What a great plane to let kids "fly". I am also happy to report that I am starting to get comfortable with landing sideways in a crosswind!

It is almost impossible to get 80 Octane fuel anymore, most airports only have 100 LL. I only burn 100 LL. I once considered using Mo-Gas but decided against it because a lot of it has alcohol in it which IS BAD for our engines. In addition to that Mo-Gas is prone to vapor locks and that can be hazardous to your health. A lot of people do use Mo-Gas and I'm sure you will hear from them now. Hope that helps.
