Usually they have no aviation database.  You will have to build your own,
as
you fly there.  It is really convenient to be able to punch in your
intended
destination and have all the info come up on the screen.  If there is an
in-flight problem, by punching a certain key, the next airport (closest)
will
be brought up.  Also, I've heard some talk that because they are built for
hikers, will not work above 95 mph, but it has been disputed.  Better off
trying to buy a used one from someone that wants to upgrade.  The old
Garmin
55's can be had for about $175.00.  Good luck
