Jon, My two cents. When I first got my ercoupe, I was having the same problem. I had the carb off, looked at, and gone through....same thing! Then I heard the FAA had back-pedaled on their one-piece venturi AD. Soooo......carb off, and back to the two- piece venturi.....same thing! Then one day while going through my logs and paper-work, I saw in the Auto Fuel STC that auto gas will ice before av-gas. I had been running 50/50 (auto/100). After burning off my wing tanks, I drained my front tank and refilled with 100 all the way around. No carb-ice! Since then I think I've only had carb-ice two or three times....all on days I would expect the possibility. Before it didn't matter what kind of day it was, it would ice up! I know there are alot of people on this list who use auto with no problems! I don't know....a quirk of my coupe?! With that said, I'll add that I agree with Ed's solution to a bounce. (Look back about a day and a half in the thread) , Hope I never touch down on my nose-wheel! Bounced my Luscombe a few times though.....I just kept count and logged them as touch and goes though! 8-).
