Jon,
I took and copied off your comments and took them up to the
Univerity today. I had a Brainstorming session with the other A&P
instructors, ( figured 7 brains working on it was better than 1). The
basic concences from 2 AI's and 5 A&P's is that there are posibly
2 problems.
The Stromberg is critical to any Vac. leaks in the carb or Induction
system.
A; Check for torn or deformed carb gaskets. This is an out of sight
out of mind problem.
B; Check the induction system for any loos clamps bolts or torn /
Deformed hoses.
Both of these can be elusive but are very probably most if not all the
problem. If the Stromberg gets a Vac. leak in the carb or induction system
it will run leaner but tend to die on throttle down.
Hope this helps.
