Hi Paul, During my annual I had to do a lot of tank work and discovered that indeed
what I thought were 9 gal tanks were actually only 8! I think many coupers out there ought to really check their capacities by measuring fuel input. I also discovered that the stainless steel header tank in my 415D only holds 5 gallons..... wow! If I had ever flown down to the las drop I would have been 1/2 hour short of my destination :-( My plane only holds 21 gal and not the 24 I was thinking it was..... according to the plackards stuck on each filler neck. I always wondered why I could never stuff 9 gal into an empty tank... Guys and gals.... check 'em out before you get into trouble. On the plus side...... I can now carry the extra 21lbs i put on over Christmas with full tanks! May all your landings be silky smooth and right side up!
