Its just a myth about the taildraggers.  The high wing oldsters are not 
near as hard as some people seem to want to make them.  I think the 
lower speeds involved in taking off and landing make a much bigger 
difference.  That is the Ercoupe's serious weakness right there.  I 
don't feel one bit more in control going down the runway in the Ercoupe 
at 70 or 80 than in a Cub. Probably less in control and less safe.
