As of last Monday I am now the proud owner of N87296 in Aiken, SC! Now the task of fine-tuning the Coupe to my ideal begins... I need/want to replace the panel mounted compass with a vertical card compass. I'd like to mount
this on the windshield center post, but when I temporarily mounted the unit (Precision PAI-700) the card swung 45 degrees from actual magnetic. The integral compensating magnets could not bring the compass back into alignment. The installation instructions mention the addition of "Magnetic Balancing Balls" to assist in the compensation for steel framed aircraft, so that may be the answer. Does anyone have one of these compasses installed? Any hints to assist in compensation? Thanks! Jeff DeGange Aiken, SC
