The "Relaying denied" is exactly the same as the above attempt except the
recipient is changed to an offsite email address, all else is the same as
per the Received line above. My MUA laptop is xx.xx.132.242

No, that's just an encrypted connection there.

An encrypted connection does not imply authentication.

After establishing an encrypted connection, your mail client then needs to authenticate.

There is an option of using SSL-based authentication, but that requires additional setup and configuration.
