* Even though it's much cheaper, Ed? Even though it's healthier, Ed? Even
* though it might mean parents and kids have more time together, Ed? You
see,

Actually, Rob, it is not cheaper! A can of water chestnuts run about $2.50,
then the broccoli is at least a dollar, then the chicken or beef which for a
family of four would run about $4 or 5 bucks. Let's see, a bottle or rice
vinegar, cornstarch, sesame seed oil, then the soy or housing sauce would
come to about, well, purchase price then divide by the number of uses -
probably $1.00. Baby carrots & baby corn - who knows. Rice, salt, pepper,
some of the spices, an egg or two are cheap, but throw in an additional
dollar here for good measure. Then let's say you pay me $15.00 bucks an hour
to make the food - include preparation time, that would be one hour (oh
yeah, that's right, cooking for your family is not considered work.) So far
we are up to $25.00 bucks and I think my numbers are modest. Time wise
don't forget the clean up and add to the cost dishwasher powder. The
personal energy loss might include not having sex that evening or not
getting the floors scrubbed or not going to the library - who knows? The
point is - it is not necessarily cheaper (especially when it comes to
Chinese food) to fix food at home anymore. Now how much is it for two happy
meals, two quarter pounders and two large fries - anyone?
* And your consciousness sucks, Ed.
And your berating him this way will really change his consciousness!
* Cheers, Ed.
* Rob.
