Hi again Julien,
Quoth you:

>Threaten? What do you mean?
I was just trying to argue that what the race for 'shareholder value' makes
firm executives do is eventually going to hit the economy, finance sector
and all.
>>The Grotian neoliberalism

>What's that Grotian thing?
I was referring to neoliberalism, its status that of natural law, and the
*lex mercatoria* it has spawned producing a Kautskyan ultraimperialism. But
it doesn't work as social contract and there ain't nuthin' natural about lex
mercatoria, so it'll all go the way of Grotius's *De Jura Belli et Pacis*:
wars and rumours of wars. Oh, and while I was looking up the name of ol'
Hugo's magnum opus, I noticed his tragedy *Adamus Exsul* was one of Milton's
sources (did you know that, Carrol?).

Well, when last we had a depression in the north, a bloke called Hitler was
Time Magazine's 'Man Of The Year'. The ruling class know where to turn if
the options get few and urgent, comrade!
Cheers,
Rob.
