Well, I would agree with the "backwards" issue...since I wrote the
company and they said that some cars basically use a reverse polarity
configuration. They recommended that I pop the wires from their
harness, and reverse them...that this should fix the issue.
Yeah... I saw that in their FAQ where with one particular set of lamps (or something like that) you have to reverse two of the wires in order to get them to work.
Maybe you have to swap the plugs - use the one for the low beams for the high beams and vice versa. :^P
Other than that, it's idiot proof. The 9005 and 9006 have different
grooves. So you can't actually plug it in backwards. There is
literally only one way to put it together. And it is just as straight
forward as you mention.
No matter how idiot proof we try to make things, there will always be someone who beat the system.. :^)
You don't actually use the stock harness for the lights. You use the
stock harness coming TO the lights, to give signal to the relays. And
only on the driver's side. The power comes straight from the battery,
and there is a ground for each light.
That was what I meant. :^) I thought that was a very clever way to do it. I've seen kits where you run the wires all the way up to the stock switch. Of course these kits are usually more "universal" in nature.
I used my dremel to really grind
away all paint from around the bolts I used to mount them. So I don't
know how much better of a ground I can get.
LOL!
Sorry to hear about your trip being candled to Cali. You probably would have been miserable with the weather... down here in Carlsbad (San Diego County), it's 80F on the coast... and it's something like in the 60F in the Bay area... ;^)
