a big ole drill bit to the rescue. i drilled perpendicular to the bolt travel on just inside both bracket "ears" and I have released the alternator from its death grip on the engine. Unfortuanly I doubt I'll get my core charge back... Now for the fun part. getting the alternator out of the tomb of an engine compartment. The engineers @ honda must be into S&M. I tried to loosen the bracket from the engine, to drop it out he bottom but to to avail its rusted up good to. so I guess I have to disconnect the brake lines, pull the master cylinder, remove alt. then put it all back together and then the fun part. bleed all of the brakes. What a PITFA. Which means I'll end up with a broken wheel cyclinder and have to replace some rear hubs when i crack them with a sledge trying to get them off Oh... Can't forget the bleeder nipple i'll shear off of the front caliper. I'm almost beginging to hate this car. And I haven't even started working on the glass yet.

On my project CRX the bolt which hold the altertaor to the engine so that it can pivot to tighten the belt has rusted to to the alternator. There is a metal sleeve whichis rusted to the bolt. does any one have any tip and ricks to get this out.
I have tried heat, pentrant, brute force (5 lb sledge with 2'ft rebar so I can really wail away at it) I have even gotten destructive with my dremel and a cutoff disc but due to space limitations it can't cut any deeper ino the alternator
I guess my next step might be tro try a drill and drill perpendicular into the bolt and alternator. I guess at this point I have already lost my core deposit so I have nothing more to lose.
Any suggestions?

You may be able to cut it free from the lower bracket and then just replace the bracket once you free it from the block. I don't know what the cost is on a new bracket and it probably will be a dealer only part (unless you can get one from a local salvage yard). You'll also have to get two new bushings and a lower bolt too.
I suppose you could snap or cut the nut off, then either drill or try and drive the rest of the bolt out. The lower bolt is just a through bolt (squared at one end and a nut which is used to secure it on the other).
This probably doesn't help, but here's my tech article on how to R&R an alternator..

Best of luck and let us know what you end up doing...
