If you are running the official cs_assault, then it's up to you whether you run 
it the old way or the workshop way.
If you run it by hosting a workshop collection with just cs_assault you have 
the option to attract people searching for "other maps" when your server is 
empty.

How did players connect to your server before? Community Quick-Play / server 
browser / favorites? All those options would still work when running it the old 
way or workshop way. It's possible that people are checking out more workshop 
maps these days now that they can get dedicated servers easily...

Got another question.
Let's say I run a 24/7 assault only server, what would be the best method to 
load the map? Workshop or the old method? I thought using workshop method would 
be best because people can join the server via the new workshop interface if  
they subscribed the map, but on the other hand, people are telling me that ever 
since I switched it to workshop, its staying empty or not populating like 
before! Some think it might be because the mapname is displayed differently.


The server was full all day long before I used workshop method, now it's not 
getting any players, even if 2 or 3 have joined, it is not populating like it 
did before.


Now even switching back to the old map loading method, it doesn't populate!


What could be the issue here?

A: Yes, the server will execute all your server.cfg and gamemode configs just 
as if you had the other map in your collection.

A: It uses the same game mode as your server is currently running, it will not 
change game modes on your server. After the other map finishes playing the 
players will transition to the map in your hosted collection.

player is present, does this still count as idling? or does it have to 
hibernate?

A: As long as the server reports as "empty" to the master and has no human 
players it is considered "reservable". It doesn't have to be hibernating.

Q: Are there any pre-requisites or preferred settings (in config terms) for a 
server getting selected with sv_workshop_allow_other_maps?

A: As long as you are able to host a workshop collection and connect to your 
server, it should function correctly when hosting "other map" too. No
