Not for CSGO.
You can use steamworks with sourcemod. This isnt offically supported
unless it changed in the last month.

See, that's the opposite point of view one could have on this. One
could just as easily say you'd be one of those called-out 10 year olds
for being "naive" since there's no actual proof for that, it's just
narrow-minded blind trust. You could argue that in your case Valve
would have reverted the quickplay changes.
I'm not sure what some people expect here. Of course there's going to
be a lot of protest. Some server ops are really invested into their
hobby (or business), and those changes have a crucial effect on the
future of their communities. And of course there has to be a lot of
protest simply so that Valve notices the severity of the issue. If you
like to criticize the way that happens, go ahead. But watch out, a
non-hypocrite would simply not reply to the mailing list instead of
calling people out.
If anything, it seems realistic to expect that Valve will continue to
follow a matchmaking path (If you take a look at how the games
developed, from tf2 - l4d - l4d2 - csgo - dota).
And honestly, one can only blame them to a certain degree. This is a
double-sized sword after all. There are a lot of server ops out there
with their p2w and ad-invested servers. L4D(2) for example had a real
community server hate. Almost every server game would follow a lobby
vote with the phrase "ugh modded server"/"modded servers are shit" if
the server was a third party one. Granted, in that particular case the
issue was the lack of a sufficient amount of official servers, low
tickrate on official servers (30), unbalanced and bugged gameplay that
actually made it necessary to play on community servers. But that's
not what Valve might have picked up. All they get might have been an
"ugh modded server".
I used to run a script that connected to every non-official tf2 server
just to made a picture of how ad-infested the servers are. I kept the
speakers on, and every 30 seconds there was an ad playing. One might
argue and say "you can just disable motds". Don't expect the majority
of the playerbase to be able to do that. You can expect the average
player to maybe set their resolution and mouse sensitivity, that's it.
Everything else is only used by the tip of the playerbase eisberg.
Plus, there's still the p2w-shit going on.
If there's an interest, I could make efforts to measure how many
servers are actually ad-infested, so that this can be quantified. I'm
warning you though, you won't be happy with the results.
If I might suggest something:
-We need more (and more effective) communication between Valve and the
community. After all, the community is what made Valve big. Hiring
community managers who have an ear to the ground of the community
might help improve the current signal to noise ratio. One or two job
openings per game is money well invested. (Compare that to the money
that went into L4D2's advertising campaign for example.)
-We need a server rep system. Servers can already be reported, but I
think this hasn't gone far enough yet. IMO P2W servers should be
banned (it should be a reportable offense, bb saigns - who happen to
have a shit ton of servers), as well as the worst of the ad-infested
servers. I'm sure with enough discussion a reasonable ruleset can be
found. There will be enough playerbase for the decent servers, and the
playerbase might actually grow since there won't be as much abusive
server ops now. Win-win.
One might argue how bans would be possible? How they would matter so
that people couldn't just go ahead and reopen the server?

bound to steam accounts. Just disallow the entire steam account to
host servers, and set up restrictions as to who is allowed to host.
Otherwise the server simply won't show up in the server browser. For
rare exceptions, allow servers to be registered on a review basis. If
restrictions are set too high for some people, this would still allow
them to host servers.
Also keep in mind: 20/80 rule applies here. There will always be
people who fall through the gaps when they shouldn't. But the
situation as it is now, without anything in place, is a road that's
headed to collision course.

We were upset because if you look at the things Valve did to TF2,
just for instance, you would understand why we were so worried that
the community was about to get shut out even more than it already is
with Valve revolving every new thing around their own servers. For a
lot of us, this is part of our livelihood. Years and years spent
developing large communities, some of which are barely hanging on due
to the disadvantages Valve has put on us with their heavily involved
server presence. Valve is known for not giving a crap about what the
community wants, so I'm glad a huge uproar was made.
As far as Wicked Player, he can come and say what he wants but he
literally doesn't matter a single solitary bit. He doesn't own a
community, doesn't run servers, doesn't stream, isn't a pro player,
isn't a youtube personality. He is a guy that literally spends his
waking moments awaiting updates from a variety of Valve platforms so
he can instantly post them on Reddit. So I don't think we should get
too caught up in a fuss over him. Let's keep the fighting among us
hard working server owners =D
