At work we've had very good luck with Dell, both servers and laptops. But then we also have on-site support. When a server or laptop does not work, a guy comes out within a day and fixes it at no additional charge. I've seen this one tech work on laptops and it's quite impressive: <10 minutes to swap out a laptop MoBo. As for PCs for personal use, I don't know how good or bad Dell is. When I get a machine I tend to go cheap, get more than one, use an external drive, and use linux. If a machine breaks, no biggie. I've got a spare.
