I installed VectorLinux on the fast eMachine (2.5 GHz, 700 GM RAM). Very nice. However, it does not use KDE. One can choose from Fluxbox, IceWM, and XFCE, all with or without ROX-filer. After playing with each, I'd have to say that I'm now leaning toward XFCE. It does have a few bugs: 1) GSLAPT does not work. One can click on the program icon in the menus, but nothing happens 2) no apt-get 3) a few other program icons don't do anything. Otherwise, it's very nice. I haven't had a chance to look at the forums, yet, to figure out if those bugs have been resolved. Anyone know? Tonight, I'll try installing it on the slow machine (500 MHz, 128 MB RAM) to see how the performance is. Regards, - Robert http://www.cwelug.org/downloads Help others get OpenSource software.
