That sounds like a good solution.  I'll give it a try later.

It may even be easier than that.  I did an apt-get install and  
followed your instructions.  Then I noticed that I have two icons on  
the panel which both start FireFox.

I'll have to play with xfce a bit more to get comfortable with it.

Sweet!  Thanks, Dave.   That's exactly the kind of examples I'm  
looking for.  Will give that a shot.
