GStreamer encountered a general supporting library error (when I try to
open the created file with totem). In Firefox it will open, but has no
animation, although it will forward through the slides when the mouse is
clicked. The linked-not-embedded movies are just grey squares with
question marks, though.

They are definitely linked not embedded. But, it still doesn't make
sense to use OO when the recipient will only have Microsoft Office to
view it with, unless there is a way to embed rather than link .avi
objects and a way to export it as a flash document.

What I need is a simple Open Source tool to quickly stitch together and
edit .avi files, like you can use something like Jokosher to make
multi-layered audio tracks.

Is there such a puppy?

Thanks,

Theresa
