I am thinking of visiting one of the big civilian shooting academies in the
US, either Gunsite, LFI or Thunder Ranch.
Before I invest the cash, can anyone make a personal recommendation or give
me an opinion on these places?

Thunder Ranch has the best rep. out of the three. There's a new school
in Virginia that is probably a lot easier to get to than any of those,
I can't remember the name off hand, something like Blackclaw or similar.
