A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
"We Will Come to Him and Make Our Dwelling. . ."
What? Would you say that again? Did Jesus just say that He and the
Father were coming to my place? Oh no, I've got a three-year-old and
there's no way they're going to want to come in once they get here.
Believe me, the last thing in the world Jesus cares about is how your
house or your lawn looks. Jesus is looking at the interior furniture.
Is that couch a bit scuffed up? Have you got some newspapers and
magazine laying around up there? Perhaps there are things you'd
really rather they not see. Too Late!
Jesus knows what the house looks like. He knows what the trash is. He
knows whether we've been good or bad about cleaning it up. And He
doesn't care. If we invite Him in, if we listen to His voice and
follow His commands, He will come with the Father. And what's more,
He's planning to stay. He'll stay a long, long time. Our entire lives
-- now and into eternity.
Praise God for His wonderful abiding mercy!
