It sounds like similar method used when they jacked me in January. 3 criminals, bottle, panga (axe in my case) and knive (piece of timber in my case). Similar area... Ironically, they caught 2 of the guys that jacked us. We positively identified them. Wednesday they were back on the street. Saturday they jacked another 2 riders... They are still on the loose. Police is not doing a lot, but our justice system is doing even less!!
I am in Cape Town now for a few month, and here most people ride in a few areas - Majik Forest, Tokai, Few areas in Stellenbosch, Table mountain, Koeberg, etc. No incidents that I know off? 2 incidents during a race! That is terrible! Getting all stirred up and angry again... Breath in... Breath out... > From: Brendan <[email protected]> > Reply-To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> > Date: Wed, 9 Sep 2009 10:48:56 +0200 > To: DarkAndDirty <[email protected]> > Subject: [DarknDirty] Re: Fwd: FW: Down and Dirty Mountain Bike Race > > > ok, my 2c worth: > > I think the fact that (a) we arent expected, (b) we surprise the > blokes, and (c) we probably look quite scary at first sight (sorry > DeeKay) makes us a lot safer than on our regular day rides. > > BUT since a lot of these blokes are opportunistic (a broken bottle > doesn't take much planning) staying together is definitely the trick I > believe.
