Interesting, that might imply dt is doing some sort of hardware probe to find
storage devices or some-such?
I must confess to never having tethered a camera to dt or even connected one
for downloading images - it seems easier to just directly read the card. If
it's relevant my computer hasn't got anything attached except monitor,
keyboard, mouse, single SATA SSD for o/s usb card reader and LAN connection.

Not such a stupid question.
For me, dt hangs on startup when I have my phone plugged in. I think it
eventually times-out but I just disconnect the phone. Once dt is up and
running, the phone can be plugged back in.
