On the other hand, in English you do translate Wien into Vienna, København
into Copenhagen, Italia into Italy, Москва into Moscow, Bayern into
Bavaria, and countless other examples. Likewise in other languages. So your
point doesn't hold.
I'd say, translate if there is already a well-known and widely used
translation, otherwise not.
