As far as Perl 5.8.0, I would like to see setvbuf supported for PerlIO.
We have a new production database(Oracle on Linux) and I installed perl 5.8.0
on the server(all others are 5.6.1). So this problem of perl locking up
on large data transfers concerns me. It is still in development, but I asked
the manager to let me know when they start loading/selecting large amounts of
records so I can keep my eye on it. Of course if it locks up, they will tell
me anyways. I will report problems if they occur.
