Hi, No way to boot wheezy kernel from installation CD and also from installed kernel during distribution upgrade.
I had a cowboyhat installation on other disk so I was able to copy wheezy vmlinuz and initrd files from root partition to EFI partition. It loaded vmlinuz and initrd, no kernel log, and reset after about 10 seconds. As an alternative, rather than entering the console parameters at the boot prompt, you could also try to add it to the elilo.conf file: image=... initrd=... root= append="console=ttyS0,9600n8" I don't know for rx4640, but I also had to set input/output/error console to PcAnsi (IIRC) terminal in EFI with zx6000.
