I think I looked at the upstream commits that fixed it, https://github.com/statsmodels/statsmodels/pull/3402/files and discovered that it required too much back porting to easily apply to 0.8.0 Since the error is just you can't pickle (save object state) a few data types, I was assuming a user could just avoid the missing functionality until there's a new upstream release. I was more concerned about remembering to remove disabling the tests after its fixed, in case something else goes wrong later. Diane
