Did you check the IMail SMTP file (or the headers of the E-mail, if you use
the XSENDER option) to see what the return address was, and see if that
matched the whitelist?

No, it is not case sensitive. I would recommend checking to make sure that
you are using the return address as the whitelist, not the "From:" header.
