That's exactly how I would like it in an ideal world. You see, we set up
our default junkmail filters to only WARN. Then give each user the option
to change their own settings to one of 2 levels we've predefined using
SUBJECT and BOUNCE, respectively.

With mail sent to an alias, the userid.junkmail file for the destination
address is processed. I never stopped to think that the way lists were
processed was different. But the more I think about it, I realize that smtp
is not delivering it to each user address but rather a program alias for the
the list server. So JunkMail couldn't check it against each user's
userid.junkmail file.

So unless it was an easy thing to do (which I doubt since you'd have to
expand the list members every time), I would not expect or ask for this
feature in a future release.

I just need to find another method for dealing with lists. Possibly asking
the list owners to determine what filtering settings they want for their own
lists and creating listname.junkmail files for them.

Thanks for the info. At least now I definitely know what is and isn't
possible for lists.
