I didn't say that *I* consider the Deity to be called all of those names. ;)
Although, If I was to chose, I would probably stick with the

Why is that? If I understand correctly, it would be due to the .Net framework,
right? But that is only available on Windows, AFAIK, so anyways no C# on
Mac/Linux/Solaris etc. And of Microsoft would release .Net for those
platforms - no possibility to sue, AFAIK.

I suppose it doesn't tolerate Mono, but they just can't do anything about it.
Like about ReactOS (OpenSource re-implementation of... Windows - actually
most of Windows apps can be run on it, as for today), nor it can do anything
about WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator - Windows emulator for Linux). They would
*love* to, but they can't just sue those projects for creating a software
that has very similar API! Same thing with MONO - they can't sue them only
because the codethat was written for MS .Net, compiles OK on Mono.
Besides, if such things would start to happen, such projects would move to
Europe (I think Mono - as a Novell chiled - might already be 'located' in
Europe), and then - well, no patent-infrigement suing possible for M$...
Heck... Leaves them with the copyright, but as the code is written from
scratch and not stolen (wich actually Microsoft did with Apple's code a while
ago, AFAIK), well, nothing here that M$ could sue for. Heck again.

Mono? They have their MonoDevelop, AFAIR.

"Lazarus" is just at the tip of my tongue, and I think it would be a solution.
I see lot's of Mac users on Lazarus' forums and they seem happy with it -
have you checked the situation and are *sure* about the XServer issue?
And I *think* I have seen some work on Mac OS X GUI toolkit bindings for Laz -
oh, right! In Compiler Options in the Lazarus IDE I have the GUI toolkit
selection and there it is - "carbon". I think you could recompile Lazarus
(just a matter of click within the GUI, no makefiles, etc.) to use the carbon
interface. I did this with Gtk2.
And just a word more: Lazarus *is not* FPC. It's an IDE and components library
("LCL") to use with the FreePascal Compiler. Lazarus and FPC are two separate
projects, although abviously Laz depends on FPC.
