Unlikely, the only companies probably able to borrow that kind of money have
been moving towards .NET for the last couple years. My guess is that
Borland heard about the Oracle/JBOSS situation and thought they might throw
their name in the list of "buy me" products. Problem is with Oracles latest
purchases and changes in architecture Java is their go forward and that
means JBOSS is probably on the buying block. Truth is I honestly don't know
who would be interested. It would have to be someone willing to go up
against MS and not have a heavily vested interest in Java.

I would suppose there are a couple of quasi-interested companies talking to
Borland already and Borland may be feeling the market to see what that
toolset is worth. Problem is if someone doesn't bite, it is really going to
hit them hard as their stock price would take a hit. If they can move the
product, I am guessing their stock goes up. This move smells like a stock
play, but more likely the new CEO sees this as the best way for Borland to
survive by getting rid of an ever shrinking product base. Personally, I
would have looked into spinning off the tools into a separate division and
gotten really aggressive in the pricing model.
