There were a few interesting comments made by the nexus management
team on this thought the other day that sounded far-fetched, but highly
likable if at all possible!
I realize I lot of you might now be saying, "Aren't you the guy who
was bitching about nexus just a month or two ago?" And yes, it was indeed
I! But if nothing else I pride myself on my flexibility and the fact that I
can change my mind about something faster than fleas can mate! <g>
Nexus has really turned around in just the last month with an
exceptional new point version and the majority of all its SQL problems
solved. And to be perfectly honest, I must admit that I now believe a lot
of what was wrong was NOT in their software, but in their means of
communicating to their clients. A problem I'm happy to see they have turned
around as well and are continuing to improve on. I'm certainly no DB guru,
so perhaps my opinion in this matter is of little value, BUT I read a lot of
technical jargon that I only half understand, and what has impressed me
about this company, besides my use of their software, is the fact that they
are now openly and actively asking for and getting technical commentary back
from other highly thought of dB freaks on extremely difficult topics like
the fundamental truth of various logic methods they are using to write and
confirm the validity of their code base. I don't think I can remember ever
seeing such open discussions of such depth before from ANY company!
In any case, it had been suggested that although still quite small,
they do have the basic setup, including knowledge and management, that could
allow them to take on such a monumental task of continuing Delphi provided
they could get the team and the financing! As it's been admitted, this is
something they are already actively pursuing! I'm sure there are others
equally as interested.

Subject: RE: Borland to sell off developer tools
Are there any 3rd party component developers big enough to take this on?
In financial terms and scale.
That appears to me, to be the only route that would keep Delphi going as
I know it.

Worth a discussion here I think...
