That would be my thought as well. Chrome is definitely Pascal +,
and since it already sits atop VS Microsoft wouldn't have to do anything!
But there is the quick loss of Win32 and the VCL, and for that I would
mourn!

I think if MS buys it, it becomes FoxPro in which MS just shelves the
product. However, I don't see why they would buy it. They usually buy a
product for technology or to stop competition. At this point they can't see
Delphi as having any technology they want nor do they see it as real
competition any longer. They would be better off buying Chrome (for MUCH
cheaper) and integrating it so they have Pascal.NET rather than forking over
several million for a product they can't really utilize. I don't see them
embracing Pascal for any reason honestly.
I am still holding out for Open Source. It is a tough business since
someone would have to shell out serious bucks to buy out those products from
Borland and then hope they could turn enough money from corporate licenses.
On the plus side, it is easily the best way to extend Delphi's life as a lot
of companies are now looking for Open Source products as a requirement
(mainly government requirements). We can all hope that a company like MySQL
would buy out Borland since an open source tool to go with an open source DB
makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, MySQL is still in a tailspin from that
Oracle situation.
