Hi Steve. Long time no speak.
Re Crystal, so nothing has really changed has it. Of course this means that
Crystal is disgustingly slow at running any reports, and network traffic is
maximised. I also notice Dll pollution, and an old version of the BDE is
dished out as well. It is also very 3.11 ish in look and feel isn't it.
Yuk!
To me, I found the learning curve with crystal quite steep for many of my
customers, so what product would you reccomend for end users?
Cheers,
Tony.

I think the problem is a LOT worse than this simple case you mention. I
found it a real challenge to get Crystal to use a where clause at all.
(Used with Informix 7 and Intersolv ODBC driver)

That's another cute feature I appreciated.
To cut a long story short, in the end I convinced the customer to bail from
Crystal, and wrote him a reports module in Delphi, and made reports using
QR. This was infinatly simpler than using Crystal, and the reports ran heeps
faster - like 10 - 10E4 faster.> For me it was faster also to create the
reports, but then I dont have a huge experiance with Crystal.

A good idea. It's smooth.
