I have my apps working fine in Vista using D7 which is not much different to D5.
To ensure it looks like a Vista app under Vista, I've made minor changes to the Open and Save Dialog code in the VCL source so the new Vista dialogs will appear. I'm using a special MessageDlg alternative found on the 'net which uses the new stylish Task Dialog when running under Vista. I've also got a Glass function if I want to extend the Vista glass onto forms. Just ensure HKLM registry write access is limited to the installer, and don't write ini or other files to the installation folder. And that's about it. Brendan, My own experience is that applications written by Delphi 5 work "satisfactorily" on Vista. At the moment, I have no intention of moving my production environment to Vista, so I use a VMware virtual machine for testing. It's not ideal, nor even particularly convenient, but "good enough" for now. I did also buy Delphi 2007 (my first upgrade since Delphi 5), and would expect to gradually migrate over the coming years, with the hope that Delphi 2007 will work correctly on Vista when I need it.
