I don't see why we wouldn't do a better UI if we can.

It seems silly to say "we should have parity between the desktop and web interfaces" when what we should be saying is "what interface in each context is more intuitive to the user". If we can we should make an interface people don't have to "learn" and can use without sorting through all the content on this list and our wiki to figure out simple usage, not to mention the pain of losing half their detail view on lower screen resolution.

There are a lot of people who will use this that have never used chandler and we should be providing them the most intuitive experience possible regardless of what the experience is on the desktop.

+1 for Priscilla's web centric design.

I feel pretty strongly that it's a mistake to forfeit the benefits of the web ui to make the web app and desktop app exactly the same.

The point from the design proposal says:

"+ The current layout which is adapted to the desktop app is not well
suited to web conventions."

Which to makes it pretty clear that in creating a web app, we should make it work well as a web app. Since it's the same amount of work for mde, why not just make it work well the first time instead of doing a replica of the desktop app, and then repeat all that work when it becomes clear, again, that it really isn't suited for the web?

What do other people think?

i prefer the most recent detail view design and, if all else is equal,
think we should go ahead and do it.
