Hi all,

I have followed the discussion with interest and I'd like to suggest to focus on the practical aspect.

The facts are:
Thunderbird, SeaMonkey and Calendar/Lightning are Mozilla products (with a significant number of users).
They are maintained by dedicated communities.
(Kent has explained how the Thunderbird community is planning to ramp up the effort even further.) Mozilla compiles/releases Daily, Aurora, Beta, Release and ESR versions of these products on a regular basis, mostly daily.

Let's implement the best technical solution which makes work easiest for everyone.

Simple as that, unless we are not discussing a release engineering problem here, but something else (as Dough hinted at (quote): "... what kind of support the Mozilla project and foundation is going to give to Thunderbird").

With kind regards from Berlin, Germany,
Jorg K (Mozilla contributor - http://www.jorgk.com/misc/Mozilla-work.pdf).
