Committership is typically not requested, it is offered. Steve has indicated
that he has taken a little bit time off, been re-thinking some personal and
project strategy, and says (to me) that he is fit to continue.

Hence, this is IMO an invalid reason for a veto.

The Board made that time-dependant, subject to long-term commitment and
earning the respect required.

This is IMO also an invalid reason for veto.

You and Berin is making it backwards. Withdraw the veto and things are
"forward" again.

It is about history. We are proud that all of this started in ASF. We want to
see it succeed in ASF. Personally, one day I want to see ASF being proud of
Metro, just like it is proud of many other projects.

Depending on the negotiations with the Board, several things can be the
outcome. What I am requesting is not to bring Stephen in to 'revive' Avalon.
There are two main reasons;

1. I think it is silly that we should loose valuable time in this process, and
we plainly just want to get on with the development the best we can.

2. In case(!) Avalon is dismantled by the Board, I don't see anyone but myself
and Stephen willing to sort out the final closure of the codebase, similar to
what I did with the avalon-excalibur prior to moving it to the new Excalibur
TLP. Avalon should not be left like a war zone.

I hope I have given you enough information to peacefully withdraw your veto,
which IMHO is based on invalid arguments.

Cheers
Niclas
