For those that may not know anything about Atom or syndicating:

You know RSS? You subscribe to weblogs and news sites and such, and new content just shows up in your newsreader? Firefox and Thunderbird both support it.

Well, the same thing could happen with bib records. Atom is a new alternative to RSS. So, say you know ten colleagues. You subscribe to their feeds to see what they're reading, and what they have to say about it. You can then import those records into your bib database (assuming some sort of simple scripting).
