Currently for what I do in my project, it's a real pain. You have to
check every now and then if the company still exist and is listed with
an accurate adress, if it still provides OOo services on their site,
etc. It's a lot of work and very time consuming.

I do not understand that.
In whose interest is it that they are listed?

Would you believe it : some are asking to be listed but do not provide
any OOo sevices. Or put some page on OOo but they disappear at the very
bottom of the site after 2 or 3 weeks.

Ugh, how terrible :-\
Thanks for this info; we can use that in our case:
"If you want to be listed, there has to be a clear page about the services you offer + it must be linked from the main page."
something like that.

Most often, they provide services on several products (proprietary or
not) and don't remember about our site if they have updates on their
adress or their content.

OK, that's not so strange.

If it is also theirs (just a wild guess ;-) ), what's wrong with an
appointment that they inform you on every change plus once a year?

My fault, I didn't put that process in place when I began the page on
the site.

Maybe you can change your process :-)
Easy to do: send a mail to all every year, ask for current data + their 'OOo-page'. The ones that do not reply, are removed. Plus a note on the page, about asking visitors to inform you about possible mistakes.

Kindest regards,
Cor
