Hi Aijin,
Yes. I talked to Japanese Translation Project Manger, Kaoru,
and confirmed the translation has not started yet.
That's correct. Translation start date is scheduled for September 27th.
Rafaella,
I am working with Japanese community to join the
translation work for 2.4.
This is really great! thank you!
Could you let me know what you expect
the review schedule followed by the community translation is like ?
Regarding linguistic review there are actually 2 possibility.
One possibility is that you, as Language Lead for Japanese work very
closely with the Japanese translators and perform review before they
deliver back to Sun. This means that the files we receive by October
29th are final files and do not need additional review.
This is for example the way Elsa works with the French Community and by
speaking with Sophie at the OpenOffice.org conference last week this
seems to be working very well :-)
The advantage of this process is that between the fist and second
translation handoff we will create L10n builds which will contain the
translated final files.
The other possibility is to start review after the Community provides
translated files by October 29th. Deadline for the correction is
December 13th. Same deadline as the second translation hand-off.
I read the procedures on
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Translation_for_2.4#Process_Step_by_Step
but not sure what the milestone date is for each step.
There are no dates because Native Language Community teams are so
different in terms of team structure, expertise etc. I think that what
it really matters is to provide them with a start and delivery date...
Kind Regards,
Rafaella
Hirano san,
I'm looking forward to working closely with you,
and hope more people will take this opportunity.

Hi Hirano-san,
I have no problem to be Central Engineer for Japanese.
Aijin,
Reiko Saito at Sun initiated this Japanese community translation
for 2.4 with her backup plan (I guess), so I believe there is no
problem to start Japanese community participation now.
I really hope Japanese community translation will go well
as other languages.
Thanks,
Naoyuki

Hi Khirano,
For Japanese, I believe Naoyuki ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) should be
a central engineer.
However, I'm not sure whether the internal translation for Japanese
has already started.
Rafaella, Naoyuki,
Can you please confirm if Japanese community still can participate
in the translation for OO.o 2.4
Regards,
Aijin
